Slovak theatre in motion
SLOV:motion conveys the following message: let’s get moving, let’s merge our creative energies and create a space for joint cultural activities. Slovak theatre and performance artists form a network capturing a multiplicity of creative stories and movements, amplifying and transforming them, thus transmitting impulses into the future.
Artists who understand the impact of creative movement have been invited to explore the world around them and open it up to audiences. Over the course of four days Les Halles, the famous cultural hub in Brussels, will feature dance productions, performances, discussion panels, exhibitions and informal meetings.
The programme consists of several strands that present the story of contemporary theatre and dance in Slovakia: SLOV:motion (main programme); SLOV:view (exhibitions and dance films); SLOV:connect (discussions) and SLOV:talk hosted by La Bellone – Maison du Spectacle (lectures and readings of new Slovak plays).
Marking Slovakia’s first Presidency of the EU Council / SK PRES 2016, the four Days of Contemporary Slovak Dance and Theatre represent the first coherent showcase of Slovak dance abroad. We hope that the friendships forged with numerous cultural institutions, universities and individuals in Brussels as part of this project will continue and will provide a platform for further creative collaborations.
