Panellists: Marek Adamov (Stanica Žilina-Záriečie) and Karol Rohrer (Tabačka Kulturfabrik)
Two of Slovakia’s largest and most active cultural spaces, Stanica Žilina-Záriečie (Žilina-Záriečie Station) and Tabačka Kulturfabrik, were established by local enthusiasts hoping to attract alternative art forms to major Slovak cities outside the capital to provide cultural education for local audiences and find ways of bringing together people from the artistic community representing the world of theatre, dance, film, music, architecture, design and cultural management on the one hand and volunteers, students and local audiences on the other.
The round table discussion will therefore focus on how to exploit spaces for art purposes, on inspiration offered by cities, and the search for a genius loci and story of a given place. We will further explore the relationship between, and activities of, various cultural centres and their philosophy. Apart from issues related to dramaturgy we will cover human and financial resources and the relationship between artists and spectators.
